Under Connie?s leadership, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful has received over 100 national and state awards and is recognized as a national leader and innovator in the area or recycling and environmental stewardship.

At the state level, Connie led the creation of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership and has served as Chair two times and appointed by 3 Governors to serve on the Governor?s Environmental Advisory County.
Connie has been involved in the solid waste, recycling and sustainability fields for over 29 years and has developed two Comprehensive Recycling/ Solid Waste Management Plans for Gwinnett County and participating cities, including the building and operation the first public/private recycling facility in Georgia. Connie is a graduate of the Charter Class of Leadership Gwinnett, and a graduate of Leadership Georgia and Regional Leadership. She was the first alum to be selected as General Chair of Leadership Gwinnett. In addition, Connie serves on the national Recycling At Work Steering Committee, and locally on the Gwinnett Chamber Board of Directors, Partnership Gwinnett Steering Committee, Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation Board of Trustees, and Vice- Chair Leadership Gwinnett Board of Trustees, North Gwinnett Schools Foundation, and the GCPS Superintendent?s Council of Community Advisors. Connie is a Rotarian. She is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Gwinnett.
Connie?s professional and community recognitions include the Gwinnett Chamber?s Citizen of the Year, Keep America Beautiful? s Professional Leadership Award, Keep Georgia Beautiful? s Professional Leadership Award, and was selected as the ?Rock Howard? Award winner by the Department of Natural Resources (highest environmental award in the state).
If asked what she enjoys most about her community work, she says that it is bringing diverse groups together with facts and resources to make our community the best place to live, learn, work and play.
Connie has been a Gwinnettian for 40 years. She and her husband Tom live in Sugar Hill. They have been married for 44 years and have two married children and 3 wonderful grandkids.
