Connect with Junior Achievement to Volunteer.
    Make a difference!

We are very excited to share that Berkeley Lake Elementary School has partnered with Junior Achievement of Georgia to have a JA Day on May 1st for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. We are looking for one volunteer for every 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade class at Berkeley Lake ES so that every student is allotted this opportunity and experience. We are looking for members of the community to make the difference at Berkeley Lake Elementary School.

A JA Day is a half day event  (8:30 am - 11:30 am) where volunteers will come discuss economic concepts with the students for 3 hours with materials that JA provides for them. Each volunteer will lead the students through 4 interactive, engaging, and fun lessons. The teacher will be in the classroom at all times to help facilitate discussion, get the students attention, and manage behavior. There will be a training session two weeks before the JA Day at Berkeley Lake ES for volunteers where they will learn everything they need to know! The volunteers are helping prepare and inspire the students to succeed in the global economy!

Here's the committment:
Two Weeks Before:
 60 minute training session
JA goes over your materials, provides you with tips and answers any questions you may have. Volunteers are only required to participate in one training session.

One Week Before: 60 minute review at home
Give yourself time to get reacquainted with the materials as well as reach out to your JA contact if you have any last minute questions or need a refresher.

Day of event:  3 hours (8:30 am - 11:30 am)
Lead the students through the lessons, share your personal experiences, and have fun!

Next year the 5th grade students at Berkeley Lake Elementary School this year will be some of the first students to go through BizTown in 6th grade. Here is a video showing the Discovery Center in Downtown Atlanta which will be similar to the Discovery Center at Gwinnett.
