Chief City Marshal Edward Restrepo: A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication

Edward Restrepo stands as a distinguished figure in law enforcement, inaugurated as the first Chief City Marshal of Peachtree Corners. With a rich tenure exceeding 26 years at Gwinnett County Police Department, Restrepo brings a wealth of experience to his new role starting November 1, 2023. His journey began in May 1997 as a patrol officer, quickly rising through the ranks to positions like Field Training Officer, Gang Task Force member, and Corporal in the Homicide Unit.

Promoted to Sergeant in 2007, he led the Uniform Division’s West Precinct and, soon after, the General Crimes Unit. His expertise as a Crisis Negotiator with the SWAT Team for nearly a decade is commendable. Ascending to Lieutenant, Restrepo oversaw the Gang Task Force, Burglary Unit, and Motor Vehicle/Metal Theft Unit, and later commanded the Special Investigations Unit, focusing on Narcotics and Gangs.

As a Major, he commanded the West Precinct and led the Homicide-Assault/Robbery Unit before transitioning to Special Operations Commander in 2022. His career is adorned with accolades, including Gwinnett County Police Department Officer of the Year (2009), multiple Valor Awards, Chief of Police Citations, and over 65 letters of commendation for outstanding service.

Restrepo's academic accomplishments are equally impressive; holding both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University and currently pursuing his Doctorate. His role as an adjunct professor reflects his commitment to educating future criminal justice professionals.

At Peachtree Corners, Restrepo is at the forefront of integrating technology into public safety, exploring innovative solutions like the fūsus real-time intelligence ecosystem and advanced drone surveillance.
