John F. King
Commissioner John King will be joining us to enlighten and educate about the variety of services available from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire. He'll highlight the recent growth that the department has undergone and the resources they provide to communities across Georgia.
- The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner (OCI) handles the licensing and regulation of insurance companies and agents. They can help agents with their licensing issues.
- The Department of Consumer Services is OCI's investigative wing. Their job is to ensure that insurers, agents, and policyholders all deal fairly and equally. If you have a complaint about your insurance provider or agent, or how a claim is being handled, they may be able to help you resolve the issue.
- Their Criminal Investigations unit investigates reports of insurance fraud and works with the consumer services division closely to prevent unfair practices.
- Their arson investigators assist local fire departments across the state in determining the cause and nature of suspicious fires
- They provide access to vital insurance products and safe buildings through fair regulation that creates economic opportunities for all Georgians.
John F. King was sworn in as Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner by Governor Brian Kemp on July 1, 2019, becoming the first Hispanic statewide official in state history.
