Celebrate Gwinnett's
200th Birthday.
Gwinnett County was created 200 years ago this year by the Georgia General Assembly. To celebrate the occasion, the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber has invited the county's namesake, The Honorable Button Gwinnett, to be our First Friday Breakfast speaker. Mr. Gwinnett led a fascinating life and has been incorporated into the plots of several television shows and movies. If you think today's politics are rough and tumble, at least they don't involve duels!
Join us for a delightful celebration of Gwinnett history from the man himself.
Mr. Gwinnett's story is presented by Jason West, actor and Director of Programming at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center. He graduated cum laude from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both history and political science and obtained his Master of Education degree from Converse College. At the age of 19, he was elected to a term on the Kershaw County School Board in South Carolina. In addition to his service in education, West has worked in the private sector having served as the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Richardson Housing Group, Inc.
