Tort Reform and Business Growth:
Legal Insights for Enterprises Large and Small
Retail stores, apartment complexes, commercial spaces, and any residential and commercial property owners are all exposed to unpredictable litigation and potentially unfair financial burdens. Recent statistics reveal that U.S. small businesses bore $160 billion of the $347 billion total commercial liability costs despite generating only 20% of revenue. Consumers in Georgia also share this burden of our current tort system costing the average household $4,100 annually due to higher prices for goods, services, and insurance.
Meagan Hanson, Executive Director of Georgians For Lawsuit Reform, will share insights into these critical issues and what legislation could potentially take us towards a more balanced and efficient civil justice system.
Meagan brings a wealth of experience in litigation, politics, and association management to her role. Prior to joining GLR in February 2019, Meagan served as a State Representative in the Georgia State House. An accomplished attorney, her legal expertise and strategic leadership have significantly contributed to advancing GLR’s mission. Meagan lives in Sandy Springs with her husband and their two children.
